Choosing a web host can often feel like a tricky process. Whether you’re new to building websites, or an experienced veteran, it can be hard to categorize what makes a web host good–or not. There are a lot of factors to consider, which is one reason we make our reviews to help you decide which web hosts are the best.

One way to decide if you should use a particular web host is to base your decision of which web host has the best server uptime and availability.

How did we get this data?

Measuring the uptime of a website can be done with a few different tools. For each of these web host providers, we have tracked uptime through tools like Pingdom (tracks website uptime) as well as our own private sites to measure performance.

Throughout the course of extended testing (12 months is our benchmark!), we have tested most of the major web host providers uptime percentage. The result is this detailed chart!

100% uptime would mean that the web host has kept pages live 100% of the time throughout a year. Something like 99.98% percent would mean that a web host had downtime for 5-7 hours a year.
