When you think of an entry level racing wheel, one that is priced at only $100 (which is cheap as far as racing wheels go) you probably picture an uninspired design of plain black plastic. In most cases you would be correct, but not for the Ferrari 458 Spider Racing Wheel from Thrustmaster.
The Thrustmaster TMX is essentially an Xbox compatible version of the T150 model built for PlayStation 4. There are some differences, however. The button layout has a different design, and the color is all black instead of black and blue.
As fun as racing wheels for gaming can be, they do have one drawback; they can be pretty expensive. If you want to get a racing wheel experience that’s is worth the money, and provides more realistic and engaging gaming experience than a gaming controller can, you want to go with force feedback wheels.
The hand-stitched leather on the wheel and the solid steel ball bearings on the wheel shaft add durability. Its Xbox specific design, along with easily accessible Xbox control buttons, means Xbox One users can get the most out of their racing games.
If you own a Ferrari, you may have opted for Alcantara parts in your interior. It’s a stylish and durable material created in Italy and is mainly found in high-end European cars. However, those of us who don’t quite have the cash to throw down on an Italian sports car can get at least some of the experience through racing games and racing simulators.
Paired with the likes of the T500RS, Ferrari F1 Wheel Integral T500, T300RS and T300 Ferrari GTE, which are all replica-like quality. However, a high price tag does not necessarily mean that the TH8A performs well as a shifter, so in this TH8A review, I’ll take a look at the features both good and bad.
As far as entry level wheels go, it has some the usual features that the lower price wheels will have, like a bungee control system for the wheel control, but it is solidly constructed and offers a lot of customization options. I broke down the good and bad of the HORI Racing Wheel Apex wheel in this review.
