Good / The Schwinn MY16 830 features a powerful motor, a decent incline rate, good speeds, and the warranty while not lifetime isn’t too worrisome since customer complaints are low on this model.
Bad / There doesn’t seem to be many visible features or improvements from the regular Schwinn 830. Both appear to be good buys, but this one just is updated for 2016.
Verdict / Both the Schwinn 830 and Schwinn MY16 830 2016 edition are good purchases for new treadmill users who want a good amount of features without worrying about the treadmill breaking down. These models are perfect for treadmill beginners, but for those who want the best of the best, check out the Sole F80 and Sole F85.
Schwinn MY16 830 Review
The Schwinn MY16 830 retails for around $895 on Amazon. It’s a brand new product, a newer 2016 version updated from the Schwinn 830 treadmill which costs $759 and is still a good value.
In this review of the Schwinn MY16 830, we are going to take a look at the 2016 version of the Schwinn 830 treadmill.
For the price, Schwinn MY16 830 is a higher tier mid-price model. It’s still a bit cheaper than the $1000 mark where you start seeing some very good quality treadmills that have better reliability and experiences overall.
For $895, you get a good list of features including 22 preset exercise programs powered by a 2.75 continuous horsepower motor that gives a top speed of 12 MPH. The incline is around 0-12% with a weight capacity of 300 lbs.
2.75 CHP horsepower is decent, higher than other models we’ve reviewed at lower price points but still a fair amount lower than something like the Sole F80 which has 4 HP. This treadmill’s features will serve fine for basic uses since the motor is powerful enough and the incline rate is decent (not as high as 15% as we’ve seen).
The Schwinn MY16 830’s screen looks somewhat similar to the 830’s screen with a blue backlit LCD. It includes a USB charging port and the model even comes with acoustic speakers which are nice to see. However, there isn’t Bluetooth or fans like you might see in some more expensive models that we’ve reviewed.
The Schwinn MY16 830 has the same warranty as the regular 830 model. You can expect a decent ten-year warranty on the frame, ten years on the motor, two years mechanical, two-year electronic, and one year on the labor.
I would have liked to see lifetime warranties on the frame, motor, and deck but ten years is a decent amount of time to use this treadmill for the price. However, it is good to see that they included a full year of labor which seems to be the most common deadline of if your treadmill will break down or not.
While the newest model of the 830 is too new to have much feedback from many treadmill users, the 830 had decent reports of reliability from a lot of users, better than I could say for most treadmills on Amazon.
The positive reception from the previous model leads me to believe that this model will have similar reliability. Some people feel that the shock absorption in the 830 isn’t as good as higher models, but that’s to be expected, and I don’t see this model having a vast improvement.
It’s great to see that most of the complaints of the from Schwinn treadmills on Amazon are resolved, and the ones that are still live are not recent. This isn’t always the case.
Schwinn MY16 830 Review Conclusion
The Schwinn MY16 830 is the 2016 edition of the 830. It’s one of the best treadmills for the price range, and you can rest assured that Schwinn provides better warranty and customer service than most cheaper brands on Amazon.
This is one of the best beginner treadmills you can find that is still cheap but works well enough to warrant a purchase. Other more affordable treadmills will just be a waste of money since they might break down.
